Cross-shaped columns are manufactured by welding an I-beam and a T-beam or four steel plates into a cross-shaped cross-section, have balanced load-bearing properties in two directions and are ideal for key load-bearing elements such as stiffeners and corner columns. Due to the large sectional moment of inertia and excellent torsional resistance, they effectively resist wind and seismic loads, increasing the overall rigidity of the building for horizontal displacements, and are the main load-bearing frame of high-rise and super-high-rise steel structures.
